Bowls set Donated to Charity
On Monday, (today) a set of bowls was donated by Irene Butler to the Brownbread Horse Rescue charity in Ashburnham. Trustee of the charity, Tony Smith, asked the Battle Bowls Club secretary, Diana Morrison if they had a set they might donate so that visitors to the Centre could had other activities to enjoy on the lawn other than seeing the rescued horses. Irene, who is chairwoman of the club, happened to have a spare set which she willingly donated to help the charity.
Tony said, "When we have visitors some like to do other things while they're here. Croquet has been available but some may undoubtedly like to have a game of Bowls. I hadn't realised though that really two or more sets are required to play a proper game so we shall be looking for another set."
